The iRune was released on 1/19/2009. It adds a simple mp3 player to the game, that is activated by simply clicking on it. I personally enjoy this mod, it's not my favorite, but it's kinda cool. It was dead simple to make honestly, I spent about 20 minutes making it, but it's already grown to be my most popular mod, so it must be pretty good =p.

Full details:

Name: iRune
Version: 1.1
Date: 1/19/2009
Category: Miscellaneous
Requirements: Oblivion Patch 1.2.0.214, Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE)
Recommended: Oblivion Mod Manager
Author: morerunes

Adds a simple mp3 player to your inventory, along with a reset item. The mp3 player will play a random mp3 file from the "Data\Music\iRuneShuffle\" folder*. The reset item will reset any music (even if you haven't used the iRune yet, it will pick a random music file depending on where you are (ex. if you are in a city, it will pick a random sound file from "Data\Music\Public\")).

Hotkey the items for extra convinience! The iRune should automatically appear in your inventory when you start the game.

*This mod does not distribute any music, you must place the mp3 files in the iRuneShuffle folder yourself for them to play

This archive is distributed in what LHammonds calls OMOD-Ready format. It allows you to manually extract and install like most other mods but it also allows you to use Oblivion Mod Manager and import this archive with all the settings pre-configured for an OMOD file.

Pick which method you are going to use for installation:

Manual Installation:

  1. Extract this archive to any folder and then copy the contents to Oblivion's Data folder. You can ignore or delete the "omod conversion data" folder.
  2. Start Oblivion Launcher, click Data Files, and enable the .esp file(s).

OMOD Installation:

Create the OMOD (Do this section only once)
  1. Copy archive to (install folder)\Oblivion\obmm\omod\
  2. Start Oblivion Mod Manager.
  3. Click the Create button.
  4. Click the Add Archive button, find and select the archive, then click Yes.
  5. Click the Create omod button, then click OK when it finishes.

Install the mod using OBMM

  1. Start Oblivion Mod Manager.
  2. Double-click the name of the mod in the right-hand side of the OBMM screen. (icon should turn blue)

Uninstallation:

If you used the OMOD installation, simply deactivate the OMOD. If you used the manual installation, remove the following items:

  • Oblivion\Data\Meshes\morerunes\iRune\
  • Oblivion\Data\Textures\morerunes\iRune\
  • Oblivion\Data\Textures\Menus\Icons\morerunes\iRune\
  • Oblivion\Data\iRune.esp
  • Oblivion\Data\iRune README.txt

Known Bugs:

  • Sometimes the music won't play when you click the iRune. Just click it again and it should work.
  • Conflicts with the mod "Enhanced Music Control".

History:

1.0 - Initial Release
1.1 - Minor bug fix (sometimes iRune would reset instead of picking a song)
